January 8, 2019 - Day 275 - 2 Samuel 8

I am writing from my bed in Seattle, WA.

2 Samuel 8:

We are reminded of David’s victory over the Philistines and the Moabites.  Because David is a sadistic dictator, David actually had the Moabites lay down on the ground and measured them with a length of cord.  Every two lengths of people were put to death, and the third was allowed to live.  I assume this is just for his enjoyment.

David defeated king of Zobah, then he hamstrung all but one hundred horses, which means you cut the hamstring so they couldn’t walk anymore.

Some Aramean dudes came to help and David killed twenty thousand of them.

Oh and God is handing out these victories to David.

David also stole a bunch of bronze, presumably from people that he slaughtered.

This chapter closes with a reminder that David reigned all over Israel.
