October 8, 2018 - Day 183 - Deuteronomy 30
I am writing from my Airbnb in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Deuteronomy 30:
Day one in Israel and we got SOME GOOD STUFF here in Deuteronomy.
More reminders. Obey God, and you're in like Flynn. Do what God says, and God will put all the curses on your enemies.

skipping ahead..
IT IS SO OBVIOUS THAT JESUS WAS DISMANTLING THIS BULLSHIT THAT PEOPLE WERE BUYING INTO.
digressing..
Then it gets interesting. We are told here that this command is not in "heaven" or out at sea. Do remember here that the word for "it is not in heaven" is the Hebrew word "shamayim," which can also be translated as the sky.
The point here is that these words are accessible.
BUT. Here's the real point:
"But if your heart turns away and you are not obedient, and if you are drawn away to bow down to other gods and worship them, I declare to you this day that you will certainly be destroyed. You will not live long in the land you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess. This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him."
---
Obedience is choosing to love people. God won't destroy you if you choose another path -- the path of self serving, the path where you step on other people -- but you will certainly end up empty and alone. And after all, isn't that destruction?
Choosing life. What does that look like for you?
