August 2, 2018 - Day 116 - Leviticus 26

I am writing from my desk in Seattle, WA.

Leviticus 26:

No idols, observe the sabbath.  This part we knew.

If you obey God, then you get some rain and all the best stuff and God has your back.

Don't listen to God?  Well things won't go so well.

God threatens to do the following:

1.  Sudden terror
2.  Wasting diseases and fever that will destroy your sight and sap your strength
3.  Plant seeds that your enemies will eat
4.  Be defeated by your enemies
5.  Be ruled by people who hate you
6.  Flee when no one is pursuing you
7.  Be punished for your sins seven times over
8.  Break your stubborn pride
9.  Make the sky like iron and the ground like bronze
10.  Soil will not yield crops
11.  Trees will not yield fruit
12.  Multiply affliction seven times over
13.  Send wild animals that will take your children and destroy your cattle
14.  Be hostile toward you
15.  Bring the sword
16.  Send plagues
17.  Cut off your supply of bread
18.  You will eat but not be satisfied
19.  More hostility
20.  You will eat the flesh of your sons and daughters

WUT

21.  Destroy high places
22.  Cut down altars
23.  Pile dead bodies
24.  Turn cities into ruins
25.  Lay waste to sanctuaries
26.  Take no delights in the pleasing aroma of your offerings
27.  Make hearts so fearful that a wind blown leaf will scare them
28.  Perish among nations
29.  Waste away in the lands of your enemies

You get the idea.

But, if you confess your sins and the sins of people who are related to that you had nothing to do with an were likely not even born, well then you're okay.

So, if you were on God's side, you were all set.  If you weren't, you were totally shit on.  Sucks to suck.

I've said this before, but the more I read the OT, the more I see how bad Jesus was NEEDED.  Absolutely needed.  This crap had to be put to a stop.
