May 16, 2018 - Day 38 - Genesis 38

I am writing from my hotel room in Boise, ID.

Genesis 38:

Judah meets a daughter to a Canaanite man, marries her, and has some kids.  He gets a wife (Tamar) for his firstborn son Er, but Er was a bad dude (for an unnamed reason) so the Lord killed him lol.

So Judah tell his other son (Onan) to get Er's wife pregnant and raise up the kid on behalf of Er.  Onan has sex with her but pulls out so she doesn't get pregnant.  Well that's just not cool so the Lord killed him too hahaha.  Y'all reading this??

Judah tells Tamar to live as a widow with her dad, so she does.

Judah's wife dies and then he heads up to Timnah to some kind of sheep shearing festival.

Tamar disguised herself to try and get with Judah's youngest son (Shelah), now that he is grown up.  Judah doesn't recognize her, thinks she's a prostitute, and tries to hook up with her.  Because ya know, prostitution was fine and dandy.  He offers her a few items in exchange for sex, and she obliges, and also gets pregnant by him.  These people are fertile.

Three months later, Judah finds out that Tamar is guilty of prostitution and calls for her to be executed by burning to death.  Nice.  As she is brought out, she flaunts the stuff (seal, cord, staff - whatever that is) he gave her in exchange for sex, which shows she is pregnant by Judah.

He says, "she is more righteous than I, since I wouldn't give her to my son Shelah."  And then didn't sleep with her anyway.  Convenient now buddy that you got busted.

She gives birth to twins.  Boys of course lol.

So you're telling me that Judah is gonna hook up with a prostitute, then try to execute a prostitute.  WHAT A GUY!

March 3, 2019 - Day 329 - 2 Kings 16

I am writing from my hotel in Graz, Austria. 2 Kings 16: This chapter is about Ahaz, the king of Judah at this time. He did a bunch of dumb stuff, including offering his son as sacrifice, which God frowned upon. At one point, Aram and Israel tried to fight against Ahaz, but weren't able to overtake him. Ahaz did reach out to the king of Assyria for help, and complied by taking Damascus. Ahaz saw an altar he really liked in Damascus, so he had one built.  Then he died, and his son Hezekiah took over. And that is about it for this chapter.

October 1, 2018 - Day 176 - Deuteronomy 23

I am writing from my desk in Seattle, WA. Deuteronomy 23: We've made it, friends.  The wet dream chapter. This has a rough start for the castrated.  No one who has been emasculated by crushing or cutting may enter the assembly of the Lord.  Well that doesn't seem fair lol.
